Abstract

When spouses of Indian nationals living abroad abandon or ignore their wives, the consequences can be devastating, both financially and legally. Because they do not have the resources, knowledge, or access to international court systems, these women have little choice but to pursue justice within India's legal system. Legal administration, digital documentation, cross-border conflict resolution, and NRI marriage justice can all be improved with the help of technology in this digital age. Discussing the complex legal concerns surrounding NRI marriages, the women concerned, their families, legal specialists, NGOs, and government entities gather together. Problems including dowry harassment, domestic violence, and leave abandonment go unsolved for families and women impacted by such constraints due to cross-border jurisdiction. Concerns about the implementation of Indian marriage laws abroad, child custody, and divorces between parents who have already separated are brought up by NGOs and lawyers. Legislative bodies from different branches have been pushing for accountability measures, like NRI marriage registration, as part of the push to update legal processes. Various viewpoints on the topics are considered in this study, which seeks to identify systemic gaps and coordinated response. Legislative reforms, international cooperation, cautious use of digital technology, and strong support systems are necessary to ensure the safety and rights of women in marriages to non-resident Indians.
