The Core Difference: Lappa vs. Lappi
The craft utilizes metallic ribbons (called Gota) that are traditionally woven with a warp of flattened gold or silver wire and a weft of silk or cotton thread. These ribbons are classified by their width: [1, 2]
• Lappa: Refers specifically to the broad, wide metallic ribbons used for heavy borders and striking visual panels. [1, 2]
