Abstract

In the beginning of the third millennium, a new form of learning called e-learning is being introduced. E-learning decreases the educational costs, and it is more effective learning than traditional learning. Globally, it allows the fast dissemination of new techniques and processes, cancelling geographic challenges. The integration of e-learning tools and technologies has fundamentally transformed the educational landscape, shifting pedagogical paradigms from traditional, instructor-centered models to dynamic, learner-centered environments. This descriptive paper provides a comprehensive review of the current spectrum of e-learning technologies, categorizing them into Learning Management Systems (LMS), communication and collaboration tools, content creation and delivery platforms, and emerging immersive technologies. Furthermore, the paper explores the pedagogical impact of these tools, highlighting their role in promoting accessibility, personalized learning, and interactive engagement. Despite these benefits, the review also identifies persistent challenges, including the global digital divide, pedagogical resistance, and concerns regarding data privacy. The paper concludes by projecting future trends, emphasizing the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR) and data analytics in shaping the future of educational technology.
