Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic exposed fundamental vulnerabilities in global supply chains designed around lean efficiency principles, challenging both academic theory and industry practice. This paper bridges the gap between scholarly resilience constructs and operational implementation by identifying critical challenges, analyzing industry use cases, and developing an integrated four-pillar resilience framework. A composite Supply Chain Resilience Index (SCRI) is introduced to enable organizations to quantitatively assess and improve network preparedness. The framework synthesizes theoretical advances in disruption propagation, dynamic capabilities, and network design with practical evidence from pandemic-era supply chain adaptations. Findings demonstrate that organizations combining structural flexibility, digital visibility, collaborative redundancy, and adaptive capacity planning achieved 40-60% faster disruption recovery while maintaining cost competitiveness within 8-12% of pre-pandemic levels.
