Abstract
The objective of this paper is to report thedesign and fabrication process of one remote-controlled (RC) car with a common swappable control box that can be transferred from one car to another. The purpose of the paper was to understand and apply the principles of design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA). Each car had to be made according to the design and manufacturing guidelines provided. The paper culminates in a relay race where participants showcase the design attributes such as speed, reliability, and durability of their cars by racing them around the track. This report begins by defining the design objectives, detailed design explanations, and challenges faced and overcome throughout the paper.
